Nick brings real-world experience to us over his 25+ years in technology.
Nick started his career with Compaq as a systems engineer long ago. He progressed through the ranks and became a storage, clustering, and HPC architect. Then, searching for new challenges, he moved to Bermuda and started working with a catastrophic risk-based hedge fund, Nephila Capital. He helped them grow from less than 1 billion in assets under management with one server and 500GB of data to 15 billion in assets under management with north of 2000 servers and over 8PB of data. He worked for Nephila Capital for 15 years, 6 of them as the Chief Technology Officer. He built 4 data centers and six offices and created more tools to get the job done than he can remember. The firm started with a VMware-based ecosystem. By the end of his tenure, they had successfully migrated 100% of systems to Azure and decommissioned all their data centers. They also successfully decoupled their application stacks, turning the systems into cloud-native designs utilizing many Azure-based services. After retiring from Nephila Capital, Nick took some time off and found the perfect position to fit his background in FP Complete.
Nick loves to program. He learned to program with Logo initially and loved it. He progressed to Basic, Turbo Pascal, C++, Perl, Ruby, and Python and is currently learning Rust. Nick also developed exceptional PowerShell skills in building DevOps tools and scripts long before fundamental DevOps tools were mainstream. Nick has a beautiful family with a wife, two wonderful sons, and two doggies. He is also an artist and an Amazon best-selling author. He loves to exercise, run, practice yoga, and meditate in moments that aren’t filled with other things.
